Here is what is left of one of the major "nerve centers" of the 1960-62 Operation Peter Pan, an effort that enabled over 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban children gain their freedom from the Communist menace taking over their homeland. Thank you America!

zphotos > A visit to the last remnants of Camp Matecumbe, the place that back in 1960-1962 housed hundreds of boys who left Cuba through the auspices of the Unaccompanied Children's Program.

zphotos > This is the interior of the old dining room at Camp Matecumbe. There used to be a black and white televiision set high up on the far wall, where we Cuban exiles got to watch our very first American programs.
