Here is what is left of one of the major "nerve centers" of the 1960-62 Operation Peter Pan, an effort that enabled over 14,000 unaccompanied Cuban children gain their freedom from the Communist menace taking over their homeland. Thank you America!

zphotos > This street sign was one of the first things I saw when I exited from the expressway. A nice memorial, to a nice, honorable man. Well deserved.

zphotos > This is the interior of the old dining room at Camp Matecumbe. There used to be a black and white televiision set high up on the far wall, where we Cuban exiles got to watch our very first American programs.

zphotos > This is the inside of the old Dining Room. The far wall, towards the right, is where the black and white television set used to hang high up on the wall. The door on the upper left opens towards the center of camp, where the building with the showers and the large cabin are still located.

zphotos > This is the building that housed the Dining Room. Today, it is used as a gym.
